Snow Lotus Essential Oils are genuine and authentic oils for use in clinical and home-care aromatherapy. This line was created in 1980s from the need for English trained Peter Holmes, L.Ac., M.H., A.H.G., to have high-end natural oils available for his clinical aromatherapy practice and seminars. This was at a time when virtually no genuine oils were available in the U.S. The Snow Lotus essential oils represent Peter's professional standard of excellence among essential oils for therapeutic use. Today, with his trained nose, Peter still personally selects the essential oils among the many samples received every week, thereby ensuring ongoing quality control. The oils are sourced for the most part worldwide directly from the producers who grow or wildcraft, and then distill the plants, rather than from the open market. As a result, the oils remain exactly the same as when they were first distilled in their place of origin: genuine and completely unadulterated. In order to maintain and increase the quality of the Snow Lotus essential oils on an ongoing basis, we aim to ensure not only the quality of the oils' plant source, but also the quality of the distillation process itself, arguably an even more important quality criterion. This we achieve not only by constant research, but also by personal visits to many of our producers around the world. Our guiding criterion is to select only full spectrum essential oils. Here the plants are steam distilled in the traditional artisanal manner for an extended length of time, using low temperature steam and vapor pressure. An oil obtained in this way retains almost the entire range of the plant's chemical components. As a result, the oil closely maintains the full spectrum of fragrance found in the living plant itself especially the valuable top notes. Its therapeutic potential is thereby also maximized. This traditional high quality distillation of full spectrum oils is in sharp contrast to the commercial distillations performed to create most of the oils on the open market. Standard quality distillations are produced in huge volumes and in quick turnaround for the food flavoring industry, using high pressure, high temperature steam, sometimes with the use of chemical solvents to speed up the process. In addition, many of them are then chemically highlighted in order to create a standardized, reproducible product intended for industrial use.
